Role Mission

We are seeking a Strategist with deep instructional expertise and experience supporting districts and schools to strengthen teaching and learning. This role will help Texas educators implement high-quality instructional materials (HQIM), strengthen campus and district systems, and build leader and teacher capacity to improve student outcomes.While this role is currently structured as temporary, there is potential for permanency if new projects and contracts are secured. The work will center on strengthening instructional systems and supporting educators across Texas as they implement high-quality instructional materials. You will help districts and campuses build sustainable practices that improve teaching and learning - facilitating professional learning, conducting site visits, and coaching leaders and teachers to translate strategy into stronger student outcomes. By guiding HQIM implementation planning, supporting data-driven instruction routines, observing classrooms, and leading learning communities that foster continuous improvement, you will help partners build the knowledge, skills, and systems needed to deliver high-quality instruction in meaningful, actionable ways.
QualificationsIn addition to MAYA’s values, our ideal candidate has: 8+ years experience in PK-12 education, including instructional coaching and leadership influencing school- or district-wide strategy and improvement.Deep instructional expertise and demonstrated success improving teaching and learning at the classroom, campus, or district level.Strong understanding of high-quality instructional materials, curriculum implementation, and data-driven instruction.Experience conducting classroom observations, analyzing instructional practices, and providing clear, actionable feedback.Proven ability to design and facilitate professional learning for adult learners, including workshops, learning communities, and cohort experiences.Demonstrated experience coaching school or district leaders to strengthen instructional systems and support continuous improvement.Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines effectively.Ability to build trust and engage authentically with educators, leaders, and community partners.Collaborative problem-solver who can navigate ambiguity, adapt to evolving needs, and iterate on approaches in real time.Self-starter who brings initiative, sound judgment, and follow-through.Knowledge of Texas districts, schools, and statewide instructional initiatives required.Bonus: Experience supporting school consolidation and/or familiarity with responsible and ethical use of AI in consulting, education, non-profit, and social sector contextsResponsibilities Provide Instructional and School Support: Conduct site visits, observe classrooms, review student work, and analyze instructional systems to offer clear, actionable feedback that strengthens HQIM implementation and teaching practice.Facilitate Professional Learning: Design and deliver high-quality professional learning experience including workshops, cohort sessions, and learning communities that build educator and leader capacity to use HQIM effectively and improve student outcomes.Coach Leaders and Educators: Provide individualized and team-based coaching to teachers, instructional coaches, principals, and district leaders. Support partners in developing strong observation and feedback cycles, data-driven instruction routines, and systems for continuous improvement.Support Data-Informed Decision-Making: Help partners use student learning data, implementation data, and classroom evidence to guide instructional decisions, strengthen systems, and monitor progress toward goals.Contribute to Business Development: Assist with proposal writing, scoping conversations, and thought partnership to expand MAYA’s instructional support and district-facing work.Foster Collaboration: Work closely with MAYA colleagues and partner teams to align around goals, elevate diverse perspectives, and build trusting, transparent relationships through clear communication and consistent follow-through.Life at MAYAThe starting base salary for this role is $100,000 per year. Because MAYA does not have a physical office space, you’ll find our team working from home, coffee shops, or even out in nature with a hotspot. While this is a remote role, candidates must reside in Texas. We collaborate primarily through Zoom, Slack, Google Suite, and other online tools. This position will require consistent travel for client meetings and/or internal planning days in certain months.
