ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Construction Coordinator to oversee and manage day-to-day construction activities for capital projects. In this role, you will serve as the primary operational link between project managers, engineering teams, and field contractors, ensuring that all construction activities are executed safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with cGMP standards, environmental regulations, and applicable quality practices.

You will manage contractor oversight, permit logistics, schedule coordination, and field documentation while maintaining an unwavering commitment to safety, compliance, and quality throughout the project lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Construction Execution Planning: Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive Construction Execution Plan aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Field Operations Oversight: Oversee and coordinate all day-to-day construction and installation activities on site, ensuring work is performed per design documents, applicable codes, and engineering standards.
  • Contractor Management: Supervise contractors and sub-contractors on site, ensuring tasks are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with the project schedule and quality standards.
  • Permit & Safety Logistics: Manage all required permits (LOTO, hot work, NPDES, CES plans) and ensure strict adherence to plant safety protocols, EHS requirements, and Contractor Safety guidelines.
  • Materials & Staging Coordination: Coordinate the timely delivery, staging, and safe storage of materials, tools, and equipment components on the construction floor to prevent delays during execution.
  • Progress Tracking & Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs of field progress, manage the project punch list, generate issues lists, and provide the PM with supporting information for two- and three-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Change Control Support: Support change control execution, verify installed materials and equipment against specifications and IFC drawings, and document all project-related work orders accurately.
  • Environmental & Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with environmental requirements including SWPP plans, soil stabilization measures, and proper handling of substances used on the project in accordance with site procedures.
  • Commissioning & Verification: Participate in commissioning, verification activities, start-up processes, and warranty work to ensure smooth project closeout and handover.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent field experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in construction coordination or field project management, preferably within a pharmaceutical, biotech, or FDA-regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractor oversight, work permits, EHS compliance, and construction field logistics.
  • Familiarity with cGMP standards, change control processes, and documentation requirements in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and IFC documents.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written).

Preferred

  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification or equivalent safety credential.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling tools (Smartsheet, MS Project, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting commissioning and qualification (C&Q) activities in a GMP setting.
  • Familiarity with NPDES permitting and CES (Construction Environmental Stormwater) plans.
