This role sits at the core of a large-scale ads marketplace, responsible for building and scaling the systems that power shopping experiences across dynamic product ads and product listing ads. You will lead a high-performing team focused on ads retrieval, ranking, targeting, and engagement modeling, ensuring advertisers connect with high-intent users in meaningful and measurable ways. The position blends deep technical leadership with people management, requiring a strong ability to operate as a hands-on technical leader in complex ML-driven systems. You will influence architecture, system design, and long-term platform strategy while ensuring fast, reliable, and high-quality experimentation at scale. The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative, working closely with product, ML platform, data science, and infrastructure teams. This is a high-impact leadership role shaping the future of commerce advertising and recommendation systems at scale.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and grow a team of software and machine learning engineers focused on shopping ads systems, including targeting, retrieval, ranking, and engagement optimization.
  • Own technical execution for Dynamic Product Ads and Product Listing Ads, driving improvements across relevance, performance, and monetization outcomes.
  • Act as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to architecture design, system reviews, debugging production issues, and guiding complex engineering decisions.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Product, ML Platform, Data Science, Ads Serving, and Infrastructure to define roadmaps and deliver impact.
  • Drive improvements in scalability, latency, reliability, experimentation quality, and operational excellence across ads systems.
  • Lead platformization and simplification efforts to improve developer velocity and reduce system complexity.
  • Establish strong engineering practices around code quality, observability, experimentation, and production ownership.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leads while fostering a culture of rigor, accountability, speed, and pragmatic execution.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering or ML engineering, including leadership experience managing engineering teams.
  • Strong technical depth in ads systems, recommendation systems, ranking, retrieval, or ML-driven optimization at scale.
  • Proven experience operating as a technical lead manager (TLM), balancing hands-on architecture work with people leadership.
  • Experience building and scaling large distributed systems or machine learning systems in production environments.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to balance trade-offs across scalability, reliability, performance, and speed of execution.
  • Excellent debugging, prioritization, and execution skills in fast-paced, production-critical environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience aligning cross-functional stakeholders around technical strategy.
  • Familiarity with commerce advertising, ads ecosystems, or recommendation architectures is a strong plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range: $292,500 – $409,500 USD, plus equity in the form of restricted stock units.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with generous employer matching.
  • Fully remote work flexibility within the United States, with optional access to office hubs in select cities.
  • Home office setup stipend and additional workplace support perks.
  • Flexible vacation policy supporting work-life balance.
  • Paid parental leave (4+ months) and family planning support benefits.
  • Paid volunteer time off to support community engagement.
  • Additional wellness, healthcare, and employee support programs.
