About This Position

Description:

STARC Systems in Brunswick, Maine is seeking a motivated, self-directed Welder to support the fabrication of modular containment and construction support systems. In addition to welding responsibilities, this position requires active participation in operational support responsibilities, contributing to the efficiency, quality, and throughput of STARC’s manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will be adaptable, team-oriented, and capable of performing work across multiple operational areas to support production demands. This role is designed to promote workforce flexibility and operational continuity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The position will begin with 4–6 weeks of cross-training on First Shift and will transition to Second Shift upon completion of training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan welding layouts

• Weld small components and large aluminum assemblies used in STARC Systems’ modular products

• Operate industrial MIG welding equipment

• Set up components for welding in accordance with specifications and production schedules

• Inspect welded components to ensure structural integrity and compliance with quality standards

• Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes

• Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature

• Provide operational support across manufacturing functions as a required part of the role to support production flow and business needs

• Assist with fabrication, assembly, and finishing of modular wall and containment systems

• Support production line activities to reduce bottlenecks and maintain workflow efficiency

• Perform material handling, staging, and movement of components and finished goods

• Assist with packaging, crating, and preparation of products for shipment

• Support quality, inventory organization, and general housekeeping activities

• Collaborate with Operations, Fabrication, Assembly, Quality, and Shipping teams as needed based on production demands

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Valid welding certification from an accredited institution

• Minimum of 2 years of MIG welding experience

• Strong knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and hand tools

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

• High attention to detail and manual dexterity

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to perform operational support functions beyond primary welding duties

• Ability to work Second Shift following completion of First Shift cross-training
