Purpose Statement:

Northstar Behavioral Health is a team of professionals that specialize in medication for opioid use disorder through a multi-faceted programming structure for those battling opioid addiction and/or stimulant addiction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)

  • Adhering to MN State Statutes, code of ethics, insurance requirements, and Northstar’s policy and procedures.
  • Maintain client records in accordance with Northstar’s policy requirements.
  • Complete all documentation timely and in accordance with Northstar's policy and procedures.
  • Complete continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota to maintain professional license.
  • Attend in-house trainings, all scheduled Northstar staff meetings, and consultations.
  • Hold a caseload of clients, providing all components of a psychotherapeutic episode of care from DA through termination.
  • The number of grievances/maltreatment reports is no greater than 1 per month.
  • Coordinate care with all providers that are on the client's care team.
  • Support mental health staff & clinical leadership.
  • Develop processes and standardization across all platforms.
  • Assist in hiring and outreach for mental health clinic.
  • Ensure adherence for documentation compliance, conduct audits, complete chart audits, and monitor quality assurance.
  • Support onboarding new staff members and staff development.
  • Attend weekly multidisciplinary clinical staffing meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)

  • Must be eligible to be credentialed with insurers
  • Licensed and fully credentialed as an LP, LICSW, LPCC or LMFT
  • Demonstrate competent use of DSM-V and evidence based approaches
  • CPR Certification or attain within 30 days of hire (in-house training available).
  • Must have two years of freedom from chemical use problems.
  • Must pass drug screen
  • Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
  • Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office programs and other computer skills.

Additional Skills and Experience: (Preferred or helpful)

  • Familiar with Procentive.
  • Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, SFBT, DBT, EMDR, Brain Spotting, etc.
  • Strong motivational interviewing skills
  • Work independently, think critically, and cultivate a solution-focused mindset
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to embrace change
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate well with other members of the care team.
