Workday Absence & Time Tracking Senior Principal Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Workday Absence & Time Tracking Senior Principal Consultant based in the United States.

This role is a senior functional leadership position focused on bridging business needs and technical execution across complex Workday implementations. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through design, configuration, deployment, and post-go-live stabilization of Absence and Time Tracking solutions. The position requires deep expertise in Workday functionality, strong consulting acumen, and the ability to lead cross-functional workstreams in large-scale transformation programs. You will collaborate closely with client stakeholders and internal teams to ensure seamless integration of processes, data, and system configurations. In this high-impact role, you will also mentor consultants, drive best practices, and ensure alignment across multiple project phases. It is an environment that values leadership, hands-on expertise, and the ability to translate complex requirements into scalable Workday solutions.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead Workday Absence and Time Tracking implementations while guiding clients and internal teams through design, configuration, and delivery across all project phases.

  • Serve as a Workday Absence & Time Tracking subject matter expert across design, configuration, testing, and implementation
  • Lead client design sessions and guide configuration decisions based on best practices and business requirements
  • Drive technical and functional direction across project workstreams, ensuring alignment and delivery success
  • Identify dependencies across workstreams and ensure smooth integration of solutions across the project landscape
  • Lead, mentor, and support consultants and analysts within assigned project teams
  • Manage configuration activities including business process setup, security, tenant migration, and system setup
  • Perform data loading and conversion using iLoads and related tools, ensuring accurate data mapping and migration
  • Support clients throughout transformation phases, ensuring smooth transition from legacy systems to Workday
  • Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and issues to clients and engagement leadership
  • Act as a delivery lead or assurance reviewer when required across complex implementations
  • Contribute to internal training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:

This role requires strong Workday expertise in Absence and Time Tracking, combined with consulting experience in HR, Payroll, or enterprise SaaS implementations.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 4+ years of Workday Absence & Time Tracking implementation experience
  • Workday certification(s) required
  • 5+ years of experience in HR, Payroll, or Financial software environments
  • 5+ years of experience implementing ERP or SaaS functional solutions
  • Strong understanding of business requirements gathering, solution design, testing, and deployment
  • Experience working in Human Resources, Payroll, or Financial Management environments
  • Workday Scheduling experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to guide clients through complex decisions
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor consulting teams in delivery environments
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as required
