Customer Business Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Customer Business Manager based in the United States.

This role sits at the center of customer strategy, commercial execution, and category growth within a dynamic consumer goods environment. You will be responsible for building and managing strategic customer relationships, translating shopper and category insights into actionable plans that drive both revenue and profitability. Acting as a key liaison between internal sales, planning, and supply chain teams, you will shape customer-specific strategies that strengthen brand performance and market share. The role requires strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders. You will oversee promotional planning, trade investment, and execution excellence while ensuring alignment with broader portfolio priorities. This is a high-impact position for a commercially driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced, data-informed, and collaborative environment.

Accountabilities:

You will lead the development and execution of customer-specific business plans that drive growth across assigned accounts, ensuring alignment with broader portfolio strategy and financial targets. You will manage key customer relationships and broker partnerships, translating category insights into effective sales and promotional strategies while optimizing trade spend and execution.

  • Develop and execute customer-level growth plans across multiple accounts, ensuring alignment with sales, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and distributor partners to maximize commercial performance.
  • Lead promotional planning, trade strategy execution, and new product introductions within assigned customer portfolios.
  • Analyze syndicated and customer-specific data to identify category trends, growth opportunities, and performance gaps.
  • Monitor trade spend effectiveness and recommend adjustments to improve ROI and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with sales planning, supply chain, and marketing teams to ensure seamless execution of customer initiatives.
  • Manage broker performance, tools, and reporting to ensure accountability and alignment with objectives.
  • Support supply chain coordination and ensure product availability aligns with customer demand.
  • Represent the organization at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events to strengthen visibility and partnerships.
Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in customer management, sales execution, and category-driven growth within the food or consumer goods industry. You combine analytical capability with commercial instinct and excel in building long-term customer partnerships.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales, key account management, or customer business roles within the food or CPG industry.
  • Experience managing wholesale, grocery, or distributor accounts strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of category management, trade marketing, and promotional planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with syndicated data tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel 25–40% as required.
  • High level of initiative, adaptability, and collaborative mindset.
