Regional Sales Manager (State and Local Government)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Regional Sales Manager (State and Local Government) based in the United States.

This role is a high-impact sales leadership position focused on driving growth within large public sector accounts through the sale of Workday professional services and implementation solutions. You will be responsible for shaping and executing regional sales strategy, building strong executive relationships, and expanding a robust pipeline across state and local government clients. The position requires a strategic, consultative sales approach combined with strong execution discipline in managing complex, multi-stakeholder deal cycles. You will work closely with internal delivery teams, marketing, and external partners to position tailored solutions that address client needs and accelerate digital transformation. Operating in a fast-paced, target-driven environment, you will play a key role in revenue generation and market expansion. This is a highly collaborative role where relationship-building, commercial insight, and persistence directly drive success.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead regional sales execution across state and local government accounts, driving pipeline growth, deal closure, and strategic client engagement.

  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies for Workday implementation and professional services within the public sector
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Workday field teams, account executives, and business development managers
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles from prospecting through to deal closure
  • Develop and maintain a strong 3x pipeline coverage against assigned sales quotas
  • Engage directly with clients and prospects to position services and understand their transformation needs
  • Lead responses to RFPs and RFIs, ensuring high-quality, competitive proposals
  • Collaborate with internal delivery teams to define scope, estimate effort, and shape winning solutions
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, CRM updates, and pipeline reporting for leadership visibility
  • Coordinate with marketing teams to support campaigns, events, and regional market initiatives
  • Drive consistent deal strategy execution across multiple concurrent opportunities
Requirements:

This role requires a strong track record in enterprise or public sector sales, particularly within software, SaaS, or professional services environments.

  • 5+ years of experience in selling software implementation services, SaaS solutions, or professional services to large clients
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales quotas in complex, consultative sales environments
  • Experience working with state and local government or public sector clients strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong understanding of cloud, SaaS, and ERP ecosystems, particularly Workday or similar platforms
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Experience with consultative selling methodologies and complex deal management
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical, delivery, and commercial teams
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and standard business applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25–50% for client and partner engagement
