Job Description
Summary:
An Electrical Helper assists licensed electricians with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, performing hands-on tasks under supervision while ensuring safety and efficiency. Helps Maintenance Manager & Electrical Superintendent in maintaining inspection and maintenance records. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements:
· Assists in the installation of electrical systems and components, such as outlets, lighting fixtures, circuit breakers, cable trays, and raceways, under the guidance of a licensed electrician.
· Measures, cuts, and bends wires and conduit to required specifications for proper installation.
· Prepares and maintains work areas, including clearing obstructions, cleaning, and organizing tools and materials to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
· Transports and organizes tools, materials, and equipment at job sites to provide electricians with ready access to necessary items.
· Assists in troubleshooting electrical systems, identifying hazards, and supporting repairs under supervision.
· Performing basic upkeep of tools and equipment to maintain functionality and safety.
· Documents work performed and materials used, and follows all safety protocols and personal protective equipment requirements.
Education and Experience:
· May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
· Must understand mechanical and electrical systems with the ability to solve practical problems.
· Must be able to recognize impending problems with mechanical and electrical systems and act accordingly to prevent system loss or damage.
· Has knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, and procedures.
· Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
· Works under immediate supervision.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding.
· Ability to walk on even and uneven surfaces.
· Ability to enter confined spaces.
· Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
· Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
· Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and talk and hear.
· Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
· Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required.
