General Statement of Duties
Cleansand performs semi-skilled manual tasks on buildings and grounds at City Hall,the Library and other assigned buildings under the supervision of a Foreman ora department executive.

Essential JobFunctions:(Any one position may not include all duties listed nor do the listed examplesinclude all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.)
Sweeps,vacuums, dusts, mops and waxes floors; collects and disposes of trash andrecyclables; cleans windows and lavatories, replaces indoor and outdoor lightbulbs; maintains sprinkler system; dusts furniture; sets-up and removes chairs,decorations displays and special equipment.
Sets-upand breaks-down conference rooms in various seating and table arrangements toaccommodate special meetings and afterward restores room to regulararrangement.
Makessemi-skilled repairs on furniture, floors, stairs, walls, doors, plumbing,heating, ventilating and electrical fixtures; reports needed major repairs;replaces light bulbs, windows and wash room supplies; may assist skilledcraftsmen.
Operatesand performs minor maintenance on furnaces and boilers.
Cleansheating, ventilating, electrical, plumbing and other mechanical equipment.
Tendsgrounds, shovels snow and sands walks, parking lots and other areas.
Maintainsadequate levels cleaning and janitorial supplies and of other supplies; checksall deliveries and stores items in appropriate areas; stores files from variousdepartments as requested.
Movesfurniture and supplies as requested.
Mayanswer routine public inquiries and provide directions, and may participate inmaintenance of records concerning labeling of material affected by right toknow laws.
Performsrelated duties as required.
Required Background, Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Possessionof a valid New Jersey drivers license is required.
Abilityto understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Abilityto work without close supervision, other than inspection of work in progressand upon completion, and review for accuracy and completeness of resultsobtained.
Abilityto assist and to communicate with, and to establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships with other employees and members of the public.
Abilityto add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and100's.
Abilityto apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written, diagrammed,or oral instructions.
Abilityto deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardizedsituations.
Abilityto climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch, to lift weights up to 50 pounds,to employ hand dexterity and senses of vision and hearing, as required toperform job duties.
Abilityto read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently toperform the duties of the position. Communication may include such forms asAmerican Sign Language or Braille when they permit performance of essentialduties.
