Job Description

  • DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
    • The Privacy Manager oversees the development, implementation, auditing, monitoring, education, and the maintenance of and adherence to privacy policies and procedures regarding the safe use and handling of protected health information in compliance with federal and state HIPAA regulations. This position will provide support and guidance to ensure the Berkshire Health Systems remains in compliance with all Federal and state privacy program rules, regulations, and administrative requirements.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
    • Experience:
      • Two years of experience in a healthcare environment with significant health information management or HIPAA privacy and security experience required.
      • Three years of project management experience required
      • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity required.
    • Education and Training:
      • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
    • License, Certification & Registration:
      • CHPC - Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance required within one year of hire.
    • Other Requirements:
      • Knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to HIPAA privacy rules.
      • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and disease processes.
      • Effective organizational, planning, controlling, scheduling, and project management abilities.
      • Effective oral and written communication skills at all levels within the organization.
      • Effective analytical ability required to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions to, and solve complex problems and issues.
      • Ability to affect collaborative alliances and promote teamwork.
      • Ability to independently analyze data and present it in an understandable way to non-technical users.
      • Strong time management skills for working on multiple projects.
      • Ability to work on assignments of varying difficulty and complexity, while exercising independent judgement.
      • Demonstrated attention to detail.
