SUMMARY OF POSITION
Event & Customer Service Aide performs a variety of tasks related to the special event permitting process and events at McKinney Performing Arts Center. The tasks include event set-up and dismantling, patron services during the event, and crowd control duties as assigned by the Facility Supervisor, Ticket Office Manager, and Event Coordinator on duty for the event. The events can include but are not limited to wedding ceremonies & receptions, conferences, dinner parties, classes and business meetings. This position is essential to the overall functionality of the MPAC and its events. This position also has administrative responsibilities that correspond to the special event permitting process. Some tasks maybe labor intensive.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Setup and break down events and programs.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions from staff and supervisors.
  • Show up in a timely fashion for all shifts as required.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Interact with clients and serve as a representative of the MPAC; assist clients with technical and non-technical issues and concerns as they develop.
  • Help maintain a safe environment for the clients and staff by adhering to and enforcing standard safety practices.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Work with staff to prepare/plan for upcoming events.
  • Inspect and report damages, maintain inventory of MPAC event items.
  • Work comfortably on ladders and lifts.
  • Perform minor emergency maintenance during events, such as replacement of lights bulbs.
  • Perform tasks which include vacuuming, sweeping and replenishing supplies/product as needed.
  • Log Special Event Permit and Film Permit applications.
  • Assemble packets for Special Event Committee meetings.
  • Track permit process throughout City Departments.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED

Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Six months of work experience

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Must have Class C Texas Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). While working special events, may exert medium physical effort, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (up to 50 pounds). May stand and walk for extended periods of time while working special events.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
There is limited exposure to environmental conditions when in an office environment; however, is exposed to the elements, including but not limited to, weather and temperature, fumes, and noise.
