AI Innovation Leader, Employee Benefits

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Innovation Leader, Employee Benefits based in the United States.

This role is designed to embed artificial intelligence directly into the employee benefits practice, driving practical innovation that improves how consultants serve clients and operate day to day. You will act as the bridge between business leadership and the central AI product organization, translating strategic priorities into actionable AI use cases. The position focuses on identifying high-impact opportunities, shaping AI roadmaps, and ensuring adoption of AI tools across teams in meaningful, measurable ways. You will guide embedded AI builders, influence cross-functional partners, and help turn emerging technologies into real workflow improvements. The environment is highly dynamic and evolving, requiring comfort with ambiguity and continuous change as AI capabilities advance. This is a highly visible leadership role where business strategy, technology, and client impact converge.

Accountabilities:
  • Develop and maintain a practice-specific AI roadmap aligned with enterprise strategy and employee benefits business priorities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize AI use cases that drive measurable value in areas such as benefits analytics, plan design, and operational efficiency.
  • Translate AI opportunities into clear business cases for practice leadership, including ROI, feasibility, and client impact.
  • Lead and coordinate AI-embedded builders within the practice, setting priorities and ensuring execution aligns with strategic goals.
  • Drive adoption of AI tools across the practice, ensuring integration into daily workflows and measurable business outcomes.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the practice leadership and central AI product organization, ensuring alignment on needs, priorities, and delivery.
  • Shape the practice’s AI narrative, including client-facing messaging, thought leadership, and go-to-market positioning.
  • Collect field feedback, identify friction points, and continuously refine AI tools and use cases in collaboration with product and enablement teams.
  • Partner with internal teams (L&D, change management, communications, marketing, and PMO) to support deployment and adoption efforts without directly owning execution.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in employee benefits, insurance brokerage, consulting, HR advisory, or related professional services environments.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in innovation, transformation, strategy, or digital initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in a professional setting, including prompt engineering, prototyping, or low-code automation (e.g., custom GPTs, Copilot agents, Power Automate, Zapier).
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits business models, consulting workflows, and client delivery processes.
  • Proven ability to lead change and drive adoption in matrixed organizations without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage executives, consultants, and technical teams effectively.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, with the ability to adapt strategies as tools, capabilities, and priorities evolve.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or AI/digital transformation training is a plus.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of approximately $100,000–$160,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
  • Eligibility for performance-based bonuses, commissions, or annual incentives.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits.
  • Paid time off and flexible work arrangements supporting work-life balance.
  • Access to ongoing learning, AI training, and professional development programs.
  • Reimbursement of eligible job-related expenses per company policy.
  • Employee perks and discounts where applicable.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of AI adoption within a major employee benefits practice with high strategic visibility.
