Job Description

About the Role:

The Driller position is a critical role responsible for operating and managing drilling equipment safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will oversee the drilling process from setup through completion, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational standards. This role requires close collaboration with clientele, management and field teams to optimize drilling performance and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise. The Driller will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, monitoring drilling parameters, and documenting operational data accurately. Ultimately, this position plays a vital role in supporting the company’s production goals while prioritizing environmental and workplace safety.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with geotechnical, sonic, direct-push or air-rotar
  • Familiarity with drilling equipment and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments and under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stay overnight as required for out-of-town projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
  • Class A CDL

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and control drilling equipment to perform operations according to project specifications.
  • Monitor drilling parameters such to ensure safe and efficient drilling.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of drilling machinery to prevent equipment failure.
  • Collaborate with management, engineers and other field personnel to adjust drilling plans and resolve technical challenges.
  • Maintain detailed records of drilling activities, as required per project.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during drilling operations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of operational procedures.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Driller to operate complex drilling machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring continuous progress in resource extraction. Strong mechanical skills are essential for performing routine maintenance and quickly addressing equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime. Communication skills facilitate effective collaboration with team members and clear reporting of operational data and safety concerns. Additionally, safety awareness and problem-solving skills are critical to maintaining a secure work environment and adapting to the dynamic challenges encountered during drilling operations.
