Non-Ferrous Supervisor at Mid-City Scrap, LLC – Providence, Massachusetts

Non-Ferrous Description:

The Non-Ferrous Supervisor oversees the daily operations of our non-ferrous recycled metals department. This role involves supervising staff, ensuring safety compliance, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing workflow efficiency in the handling and processing of non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, copper, brass, and stainless steel.

Non-Ferrous Responsibilities

• Supervise the sorting, grading, and processing of non-ferrous metals.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Train and lead a team of teammates, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Maintain accurate records of material weights, grades, and shipments.
• Conduct quality control checks on incoming and outgoing materials.
• Coordinate with logistics and sales teams to meet production and delivery goals.
• Monitor and maintain equipment, scheduling repairs and maintenance as needed.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, including conducting regular physical audits in line with company standards.
• Enforce company policies and procedures.

Non-Ferrous Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5 years of experience in non-ferrous metal recycling, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of non-ferrous metals recycling processes, equipment, and industry standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot equipment or operational issues quickly.
• Ability to operate forklifts, balers, and other processing equipment.
• Familiarity with safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
• Basic computer skills for reporting and inventory tracking.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
• Requires standing, lifting, and operating machinery for extended periods.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
