Exhibition Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Exhibition Director based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced exhibition professional to drive the strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale global exhibition programs. The role combines client partnership, operational excellence, and commercial oversight to deliver exceptional exhibitor and attendee experiences across high-profile events. Working with cross-functional teams spanning creative, production, sponsorship, and technical disciplines, you will shape exhibition environments that align with business objectives while maximizing engagement and revenue opportunities. This position offers significant visibility, global collaboration, and the chance to lead complex event portfolios featuring hundreds of exhibitors and sponsors. Accountabilities
  • Lead the strategic planning, development, and delivery of large-scale exhibition programs featuring 100+ exhibitors and sponsors across global events.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to clients, translating business objectives into engaging exhibition experiences that maximize attendee, exhibitor, and sponsor value.
  • Oversee exhibition operations, including project timelines, exhibitor management frameworks, handbooks, reporting systems, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Drive collaboration across creative, production, technical, sponsorship, food and beverage, and marketing teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment of all workstreams.
  • Manage client, supplier, venue, and stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle, fostering a collaborative and solution-oriented environment.
  • Lead floor planning, exhibition design, branding, signage, attendee engagement areas, and custom build initiatives to create impactful event experiences.
  • Own exhibition budgets exceeding $5 million, including forecasting, financial reporting, cost optimization, supplier negotiations, and commercial performance.
  • Provide onsite leadership during live events, overseeing teams, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring exceptional execution standards.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations, performance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance future program outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop team members while promoting accountability, innovation, and professional growth across exhibition operations.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing and delivering large-scale exhibition programs, conferences, or major event environments.
  • Previous agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing exhibition floors with 100+ exhibitors and sponsors.
  • Significant experience overseeing complex event budgets valued at $5 million or more.
  • Strong client relationship management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic consulting capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating closely with creative, production, technical, and sponsorship teams on large-scale event initiatives.
  • Advanced commercial, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, mentoring, and team development abilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective in high-pressure and fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to travel internationally approximately 20–30% of the time.
  • Comfortable working across multiple time zones and managing global stakeholder groups.
  • Based in the United States, with preference for candidates located on the East Coast or in the Central region.
