The Global Safety Director, Obesity will lead the safety strategy for assigned products within the obesity therapeutic area, ensuring patient well-being and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. This role involves overseeing the global safety profile, managing cross-functional teams, and providing expert guidance on clinical development, risk management, and regulatory submissions. The successful candidate will coordinate safety signal assessments, periodic safety reporting, and inspection readiness initiatives while driving alignment across Safety, Clinical, Regulatory, and Executive teams. You will have the opportunity to influence key product decisions, mentor safety teams, and contribute to strategic planning in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Occasional domestic and international travel may be required, and remote work is supported.

Accountabilities:

Establish and execute global pharmacovigilance strategy and priorities for assigned obesity products
Lead the Safety Analysis Team (SAT) and Global Safety Team (GST) and participate as a core member of the Executive Safety Committee (ESC)
Validate safety signals, conduct safety assessments, and develop mitigation strategies
Prepare and review core safety information, risk management plans, and periodic aggregate safety reports
Provide safety input for clinical protocols, statistical analysis plans, and study reports
Author and review safety sections of regulatory submissions, including new drug applications
Serve as safety expert on cross-functional Evidence Generation Teams, supporting clinical and commercial initiatives
Ensure inspection readiness and compliance with domestic and international safety regulations

Requirements:

Doctorate degree with 4+ years of safety experience, or Masters degree with 7+ years, or Bachelors degree with 9+ years
Expertise in product safety within the biopharmaceutical industry or regulatory environment
Knowledge of obesity, metabolic, or cardiovascular therapeutic areas, with clinical training preferred
Experience with marketed product safety, risk management, and Phase 13 clinical trial safety assessments
Demonstrated experience with regulatory submissions, interactions, and compliance reporting
Leadership experience managing safety profiles and cross-functional teams
Strong analytical, communication, and strategic planning skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a global focus
