This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Licensing Specialist based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of regulatory compliance, legal operations, and client advisory services, supporting complex multistate financial services licensing initiatives. The specialist plays a key role in guiding clients through evolving regulatory frameworks, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all licensing activities. You will work closely with attorneys, regulators, and client stakeholders to prepare, submit, and manage licensing applications end-to-end. The position requires strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable processes. It is highly client-facing, demanding clear communication, precision, and responsiveness in a fast-paced legal environment. You will also help shape licensing strategies that reduce risk and improve operational efficiency. This is a detail-driven role with significant exposure to high-impact regulatory work.

Accountabilities

The Senior Licensing Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end licensing processes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements while supporting client objectives.

  • Conduct research on multistate financial services licensing requirements, including lending and money transmission regulations, to guide client strategy and decision-making.
  • Prepare, review, and submit licensing applications with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring completeness and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on licensing matters, providing timely updates and clear communication on application status.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities to address inquiries, resolve issues, and streamline application processing.
  • Develop and maintain processes for tracking renewals, amendments, terminations, and ongoing licensing obligations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and internal teams to design licensing strategies that optimize outcomes and mitigate regulatory risk.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, prepare regulatory reports, and ensure proper organization of all licensing records and correspondence.
Requirements

This role requires strong regulatory knowledge, client management skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a deadline-driven legal environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in licensing, regulatory compliance, or a similar legal support role within a law firm or legal department.
  • Strong understanding of financial services licensing frameworks; experience in lending or money transmission licensing is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and regulators.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and strong overall technical aptitude for learning regulatory systems and tools.
