Shipping Assistant in Caledonia, Minnesota at Rawlings Sporting Goods Company Inc

Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Assistant (Tee Assembly)

Department: Distribution

Reports to: Distribution and Safety Manager

Location: Caledonia, MN

FLSA Status: Hourly

General Overview: Responsible for receiving, distributing, and maintaining materials used in shipping and production for the manufacturing of the finest sporting good products. Responsible for pulling, packaging, and processing orders for shipment of the finest sporting good products while working in a safe, organized environment in the Distribution Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Transport product between buildings
• Box up inventory from production
• Count, monitor, and maintain required levels of inventory for shipping and report when low
• Wrap and band pallets for storage and skid orders
• Load and unload pallets
• Collect and discard recyclables including cutting up cardboard
• Assist with 6S for the shipping and warehouse locations
• Deliver outgoing mail to the post office
• Notify shipping lead of items transported from storage buildings
• Organize and maintain storage buildings in a neat and well-organized manner
• Receive in packing slips/purchase orders and deliver to manufacturing
• Package and process orders for shipment including special requests, call tags, and tracking
• Communicate with delivery truck company personnel regarding shipments
• Assist manufacturing, maintenance, safety and R&D when needed
• Assist with EH&S monthly checks and other items
• Drive to and pick up parts/components/supplies from local vendors

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Education Required:

• High school diploma and one to two years of shipping and warehouse experience
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Valid Driver’s License
• Good Judgement
• Forklift certified
• Organizational skills
• Ability to problem solve

Working Conditions: Clean organized, climate-controlled production and warehouse work environment

Safety Hazards: Depending upon department, may be exposed to dust, air borne fibers, dirt, noise, vibrations, chemicals, and solvents. Work is also performed outside in extreme temperatures ranging from hot and humid to snow and freezing temperatures. Walking and driving between buildings year-round is required. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves are required while performing certain tasks.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as specifications and procedures. Must have good verbal communication skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts of basic math and reading measurements (fractions and decimals)

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to recognize a situation and escalate clearly.

Ability to deal with problems and contribute to problem solving.
