JOB SUMMARY

The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth through consultative, application-driven sales of MMT’s advanced manufacturing technologies, equipment, and services. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert and trusted partner to customers, translating manufacturing challenges into practical, value-based solutions.

The Technical Sales Engineer works closely with customers and internal teams including Engineering, Applications, Operations, and Service to support the full sales cycle, from early technical discussions and feasibility evaluation through quoting and order placement. This role may support multiple MMT brands and technologies, with site- and product-specific requirements defined separately.

JOB DUTIES

Essential Job Functions:

· Support revenue growth through technically driven sales activities aligned with business objectives.

· Partner with regional and account sales teams to identify, develop, and support new and existing customer opportunities.

· Contribute to account strategy and opportunity planning through technical insight and application expertise.

· Serve as a technical resource for MMT products, technologies, and services.

· Lead technical discussions with customers to understand application requirements, manufacturing constraints, and success criteria.

· Translate customer needs into recommended system configurations, processes, or solutions.

· Support feasibility studies, sample evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities in partnership with Applications Engineering.

· Collaborate cross-functionally to develop accurate, timely quotations and technical proposals.

· Support configuration of standard and custom solutions based on customer requirements.

· Ensure clear communication and alignment throughout the sales cycle, from initial inquiry through order placement.

· Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers throughout the sales and post-sale process.

· Present technical concepts, recommendations, and proposals to both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Identify opportunities where customer needs extend beyond the original request and recommend additional solutions.

· Maintain accurate opportunity, account, and project data within CRM systems.

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical sales documentation, application guidelines, and customer-facing materials.

· Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, clarity, and customer experience.

· Proactively communicate potential risks, constraints, or delivery challenges to customers and internal stakeholders.

· Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Service teams to resolve issues and maintain customer confidence.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Biomedical, or related field) preferred.

· Equivalent combination of technical education and/or relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

· Minimum 2 years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical role.

· Experience supporting capital equipment, advanced manufacturing technologies, or engineered solutions preferred.

· Prior exposure to regulated manufacturing environments (medical, aerospace, electronics) is a plus.

· Experience using CRM and ERP systems preferred.

Skills:

· Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain complex manufacturing processes.

· Consultative selling mindset with a customer-focused approach.

· Ability to translate customer challenges into practical, value-driven solutions.

· Clear and effective communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities.

· Collaborative working style with cross-functional teams.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Travel requirements vary by role and assigned Business Units (˜ 25%).

· Combination of office-based work and time spent in manufacturing, lab, or customer environments.

· Occasional attendance at customer sites, trade shows, or other MMT locations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation

· Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer

· Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via virtual platforms

· Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching when working in office, manufacturing, lab, or customer environments

· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed (e.g., sample parts, tooling, or demonstration materials)

· Visual acuity sufficient to review technical documents, drawings, and presentations

· Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment and technology

· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in manufacturing or lab environments

· Ability to travel by car or air as required for business needs
