Paralegal

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Paralegal based in the United States.

This role provides high-impact legal support within a fast-paced, mission-driven academic environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and responsiveness are essential. You will work closely with senior legal counsel to support litigation, investigations, compliance matters, and regulatory processes across a complex institutional setting. The position involves drafting legal documents, coordinating discovery, and ensuring the timely organization of case materials and sensitive records. You will also contribute to internal investigations, agency responses, and compliance initiatives spanning areas such as privacy and education law. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will support legal counsel in litigation, compliance, and investigative matters while ensuring accurate documentation, coordination, and timely execution of legal processes.

  • Assist counsel with litigation management, including discovery, document review, and evidence organization
  • Draft, review, and prepare legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings, agreements, and agency responses under attorney supervision
  • Support internal investigations by gathering, organizing, and analyzing relevant documentation from multiple departments
  • Prepare responses to federal and state agency inquiries, audits, and regulatory matters
  • Maintain case files, manage deadlines, and ensure compliance with retention policies and legal procedures
  • Coordinate litigation calendars including hearings, depositions, filings, and internal deadlines
  • Support compliance initiatives including regulatory filings, policy updates, and audits (e.g., FERPA, Title IX, privacy regulations)
  • Compile and summarize information across departments to support reporting, legal analysis, and case preparation
  • Conduct legal research and prepare summaries for attorney review
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to obtain updates and ensure timely case progression
Requirements:

This role requires strong paralegal experience, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage complex legal workflows in a high-volume, regulated environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; ABA-approved paralegal certificate preferred
  • 3+ years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in litigation
  • Experience in higher education or regulated environments strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of legal processes, case management systems, and legal research tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and shifting workloads in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, legal databases, and digital case management tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to work independently while also following direction from legal counsel
  • Familiarity with responsible and ethical use of AI tools in legal work environments
