This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Intermediate Technology Architect based in Canada.
This role sits at the center of one of the most complex public safety radio network environments in North America, supporting mission-critical communications used by emergency responders across a vast geographic region. You will help shape and manage the technical architecture behind large-scale, distributed systems that ensure reliable voice and data communication for police, fire, and paramedic services. The environment is highly collaborative, involving multiple government stakeholders and vendors as part of a major modernization program. You will contribute to the evolution of next-generation public safety infrastructure, balancing legacy systems with modern technologies. This position requires both deep technical expertise and strong leadership in high-stakes operational contexts. It is a hands-on architecture role where decisions directly influence system reliability, security, and public safety outcomes.
- Develop, recommend, implement, and manage technical architecture across hardware, software, database, and communications layers in a large distributed environment
- Lead architecture design efforts for complex systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability across multiple platforms and technologies
- Oversee and guide technical teams, including organizing, delegating, and reviewing work outputs in alignment with project objectives
- Support the design and execution of large-scale radio and communications network modernization initiatives
- Analyze system performance across different environments and recommend improvements based on structured methodologies and ITIL principles
- Produce clear, fact-based technical recommendations, reports, and architectural deliverables for stakeholders and governance bodies
- Translate business and operational requirements into technical architecture, data models, and system designs
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across government ministries, vendors, and technical teams to ensure alignment and delivery
- Contribute to middleware, integration, and gateway design decisions within complex enterprise environments
- Support planning, transition, and deployment activities for large-scale infrastructure modernization programs
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in P25 radio technology, including design and/or support in complex communication environments
- 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing or administering P25 radio networks
- Hands-on experience with encryption tools such as KMF, KMF workstation, and KVL
- Experience with Motorola tools such as ZoneWatch, Provisioning Manager (PM), and Unified Event Manager (UEM) or equivalent systems
- Strong knowledge of large-scale distributed systems, communications protocols, and multiple operating environments
- Experience in systems architecture design, enterprise architecture deliverables, and structured development methodologies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to work in high-complexity environments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and recommendations
- Strong leadership abilities, including mentoring, delegation, and coordination of technical teams
- Ability to obtain OPP Level 4 Security Clearance
