This role is centered on designing, engineering, and optimizing advanced physical security systems for complex, high-profile environments. You will serve as a technical subject matter expert, translating client requirements into robust, scalable security designs that integrate hardware, software, and infrastructure. The position blends hands-on engineering with consultative problem-solving, supporting end-to-end project delivery from concept through commissioning. You will work closely with project managers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure designs meet stringent performance, compliance, and operational standards. The environment is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and driven by technical excellence and innovation. This role also involves continuous research into emerging security technologies and best practices. It is a remote-first position offering the opportunity to contribute to mission-critical security solutions at scale.
- Develop, review, and refine detailed physical security system design packages, including plans, diagrams, schedules, and technical specifications.
- Conduct advanced technical studies such as cable sizing, voltage drop, power calculations, bandwidth estimation, and equipment layout validation.
- Serve as a technical SME supporting project managers and design teams in delivering compliant, high-quality security solutions.
- Coordinate with architectural, electrical, mechanical, and IT infrastructure teams to ensure integrated system designs.
- Research and evaluate security technologies, products, and systems to support design decisions and continuous improvement.
- Support testing, commissioning, and quality assurance activities to validate system performance and compliance.
- Assist in resolving technical issues related to codes, standards, and system implementation challenges.
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting, and design coordination to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- 5+ years of experience in physical security system design or security technology engineering roles.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience; Autodesk certification or relevant technical training preferred.
- Strong proficiency with CAD tools such as Revit and/or AutoCAD, including experience producing technical drawings.
- Hands-on experience with security platforms such as Lenel (required), with exposure to Genetec, C•CURE, or similar systems preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering tools including Bluebeam, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform technical calculations and system performance assessments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple technical deliverables simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of physical security systems, infrastructure integration, and industry standards.
