About the Role:

The Lifeguard Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the safety and well-being of all patrons at aquatic facilities. This role involves managing a team of lifeguards, ensuring they are adequately trained and equipped to respond to emergencies. The coordinator will develop and implement safety protocols, conduct regular drills, and maintain compliance with local regulations. Additionally, the Lifeguard Coordinator will be tasked with scheduling shifts, managing staff performance, and fostering a positive work environment. Ultimately, the goal of this position is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors while fostering a culture of safety within the lifeguard team. Benefits for employees averaging 30 hrs/week, and who work year-round roles are eligible for medical benefits. Swan Aquatics covers 60% of the premium. **INTERNAL PROMOTION POSTING**

Core Responsibilities:

  • Supervisor on Duty when the Facility Supervisor & Assistant Facility Supervisor are not on site.
  • First point of contact for lifeguard staff.
  • Conducts and leads in-service training.
  • Supervising Lifeguards, including but not limited to scheduling, personal issues/concerns, employee productivity, and in-service training. All training and team branding are based on Swan Aquatics LLC criteria.
  • Ensure lifeguard safety by providing proper breaks and lunches, shade and/or hats, frequent sunscreen application, and adequate hydration.
  • Opening and closing daily procedures, including, but not limited to, the completion of Daily Task Sheets. Procedures depend on schedule and hours, including rotations, chemical maintenance, and pump room areas, where applicable.
  • Training new hires and supervising operations in a swimming pool.
  • Helping with facility programming and events.
  • If applicable, teach swimming lessons & manage swimming instructors during lessons.
  • Assist in facility maintenance & janitorial duties as necessary
  • Monitors pool-related activities closely throughout the shift and identifies any special issues. Uses judgment to determine if patrons are safely and properly conducting themselves.
  • Directs swimmers out of the pool and/or to clear the deck during hazardous conditions.
  • Monitors weather reports closely to ensure guest safety. Adheres to and upholds Swan Aquatics' "Inclement weather" policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a clean environment in and around the pool.
  • Assist patrons when appropriate or necessary.
  • Reports inventory needs to the Assistant Facility Supervisor, including rescue tubes, umbrellas, radios, hip packs, first-aid equipment, manikins, gloves, and rescue masks.
  • Teaching/Co-Teaching ARC Lifeguard Certification Courses at our partnership facilities when applicable.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Current Lifeguard Certification from a recognized organization (ARC, STARGuard, ELLIS).
  • Previous experience in a pool management or supervisory role.
  • 18+ years old minimum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aquatic facility management.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Skills:

Lifeguard certification skills are used daily to assess and respond to potential hazards in aquatic environments.
