Job Description
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) — Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) — is responsible for delivering the highest level of patient care at a premier fertility center. The APP assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, provides patient education, and supports the medical management of women and men seeking reproductive and fertility-related services.
The APP works collaboratively with physicians, nurses, embryologists, and clinical staff in a team-based approach to provide exceptional patient care and outcomes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Obtain detailed medical histories, review medical records, and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
- Conduct infertility evaluations, including gynecologic exams, ultrasonography, mock embryo transfers, and other reproductive health assessments.
- Perform “morning monitoring,” including ultrasound monitoring of stimulation cycles, early pregnancy monitoring, and intrauterine inseminations (IUI).
- Order, review, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic test results.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising/collaborating physicians.
- Prescribe medications and provide appropriate referrals in accordance with state regulations and scope of practice.
- Provide detailed patient counseling and education regarding fertility treatment plans, procedures, medications, and outcomes.
- Serve as a liaison between physicians and clinical staff to ensure continuity and quality of patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and support best practices in patient care and safety.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory standards.
- Current state license as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority required.
- Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) required.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) required.
- Current state license as a Physician Assistant required.
- Current NCCPA certification required.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification may be required depending on location or operational needs.
- Previous experience in women’s health, reproductive endocrinology, infertility, OB/GYN, or fertility care preferred.
- Experience performing ultrasound examinations and reproductive procedures preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
- May require flexibility to work beyond scheduled shifts based on patient care needs.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other healthcare technology systems.
- Ability to access, input, and retrieve data accurately from a computer system.
