Accountabilities:

  • Conduct detailed audits of medical records, verifying documentation accuracy, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring alignment with coding standards.
  • Review charges and make corrections or recommendations based on clinical documentation and regulatory requirements.
  • Research missing, unclear, or inconsistent documentation and support resolution through provider queries and follow-up.
  • Develop, review, and manage provider queries to resolve documentation gaps and improve coding accuracy.
  • Maintain and organize audit logs and documentation across multiple clients while ensuring consistency and traceability.
  • Prepare executive-level summaries of audit findings, including actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, clinical teams, revenue cycle (AR) teams, and leadership, including executive stakeholders, to resolve issues and improve processes.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in facility, professional, and critical access coding and auditing, including exposure to observation services, injections, and infusion coding.
  • Strong knowledge of official coding guidelines, including CPT coding standards, NCCI edits, CPT Assistant references, and Coding Clinic guidance.
  • Ability to perform high-accuracy medical coding reviews while maintaining a 95% or higher quality standard and productivity expectations.
  • Experience supporting education initiatives for coders, providers, and clinical staff to improve documentation quality.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with physicians, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a coding assessment and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Benefits:
  • Competitive PRN compensation based on experience and assignment scope.
  • Flexible, remote work arrangement supporting work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to work with diverse healthcare clients and complex case types.
  • Exposure to high-level audit processes and collaboration with clinical and executive stakeholders.
  • Professional development in advanced medical coding, auditing, and compliance practices.
  • Supportive environment focused on accuracy, quality, and continuous improvement.
