About This Position
Position Summary
Performs diagnostic testing following standardized procedures on patient samples, which aids physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states.
Responsibilities
• Resolves problems and interprets results as to accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits
• Performs a variety of tasks
• A limited degree of creativity and latitude is required
• Typically reports to a manager or supervisor
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
• Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
• Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned
Requirements and Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or a related science required
• Successful completion of MLS (ASCP) or equivalent (MB, M, H, C, or BB) examination required within 3 years of hire
Working Conditions
• Must be able to lift and move up to 10 lbs
• Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position
• Typical equipment used in a clinical job
