Job Description
DSRT SURF isn't a traditional workplace, and we're not looking for a traditional content creator.
We're building a fast growing hospitality and lifestyle brand focused on creating memorable experiences, strong community engagement, and a recognizable destination driven presence. We're looking for a creative and driven visual storyteller who is passionate about photography, video production, social media, and capturing the authentic energy of surf, skate, and lifestyle culture.
The Content & Social Media Creator will report directly to the Director of Marketing and serve as the primary content producer for all social and digital channels at DSRT SURF. This is a hands-on, on-site position where content capture is a core daily function, not an occasional task. Regular on-site presence is essential, and the right candidate will thrive in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment where no two days look the same.
The Content & Social Media Creator will play a key role in bringing both of our brand channels to life, executing platform-specific content that speaks authentically to two distinct audiences while maintaining the overall visual and editorial standards of the DSRT SURF brand.
What You'll Do
Content Capture & Production
- Shoot photo and video content on-site at DSRT SURF on a consistent, ongoing basis, including surf, skate, events, and lifestyle moments
- Edit and produce content across a professional suite of tools including Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, and similar platforms
- Develop platform-appropriate content for TikTok, Instagram (Feed, Reels, Stories), Facebook, and YouTube
- Produce content for two distinct brand channels. Wave is our mainstream lifestyle channel targeting a broad consumer audience, and Reef is our core surf and skate channel speaking directly to the board sports community. Tone, style, and approach differ between the two and the Content & Social Media Creator must be able to execute authentically for both
- Support campaigns, partnerships, events, and day-to-day brand storytelling across all channels and formats
Channel Management
- Publish and schedule content across all platforms in alignment with the marketing calendar
- Monitor engagement and support community management across social channels
- Stay current on platform formats, algorithm shifts, and short-form video trends to keep DSRT SURF relevant and competitive
Asset & Project Management
- Maintain and organize the digital asset library, ensuring all photo and video files are properly catalogued and accessible
- Manage press kit assets including updated imagery and brand materials
- Coordinate with the Director of Marketing on asset needs across PR, email, and paid campaigns
- Manage content production as a project, tracking deadlines, deliverables, and priorities across multiple channels simultaneously
Training & Onboarding
- The selected candidate will receive approximately one month of dedicated on-site training from a surf and board sports industry creative agency, covering content capture and production standards for surf and skate, brand voice, and audience-specific storytelling across both the Wave and Reef channels
What You Bring
- Must be based in Palm Desert or the greater Coachella Valley, this is a firm requirement and no relocation assistance is available
- Proven experience in photo and video production including shooting and editing in fast-paced, live, or event environments
- Proficiency across a professional suite of editing tools including Adobe Creative Suite and short-form video editors such as CapCut or equivalent
- Experience managing content projects in entertainment, sports, or live events environments
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and content formats with particular strength in short-form video
- Ability to produce content for both mainstream lifestyle and core board sports audiences, understanding how tone, style, and storytelling differ between the two
- Knowledge of surf and skate culture; hands-on experience in either is a strong plus
- Familiarity with social media scheduling and analytics tools preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables simultaneously
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working with a small, fast-moving team

Current Work Environment
DSRT SURF is currently operating within an active growth and development environment. Team members may occasionally work around changing operational priorities, evolving business needs, events, and active hospitality environments.
Appropriate attire and adherence to all company standards and policies will be required while representing the brand.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout surf, skate, outdoor, and event environments while operating camera equipment
- Ability to carry and operate camera equipment, lighting, and production gear for extended periods
- Ability to work in outdoor environments including sun, heat, and varying weather conditions
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed
- Ability to work in fast-paced hospitality and live event environments
Compensation
This is a full-time salaried, exempt position. The anticipated annual salary range for this role is $71,000 – $80,000 per year. Actual compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, and business needs.
Schedule Expectations
This is a full time, in person position. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or events may be required based on business needs.
