Shift: Predictable First Shift (6:30 AM - 4:00 PM), Monday to Friday. Enjoy your evenings! Occasional Saturday overtime as needed.
Role Overview
U.S. Spice Mills is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and reliable Warehouse Assistant to join our production and distribution facility in Glendale Heights. This is a unique, hands-on entry-level role where you will directly shadow and assist our experienced Warehouse Lead in all daily warehouse operations.

You will learn everything from heavy equipment operation and inventory workflows to logistics tracking and order fulfillment in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Requirements: Key Responsibilities1. Shipping, Receiving & Logistics Tracking
- Shadow the Warehouse Lead to learn and execute daily inbound and outbound freight workflows.
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against invoices, purchase orders, and Bills of Lading (BOL) to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect incoming raw ingredients (spices, herbs) for quality, quantity, and packaging integrity.
- Assist in tracking logistics data and updating basic inventory or shipping logs.
2. Material Handling & Forklift Operations
- Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move, stack, and stage raw materials and finished spice products.
- Load and unload commercial trailers and delivery trucks efficiently.
- Perform daily safety checks on equipment and maintain a clean, organized warehouse floor.
3. Order Fulfillment (Picking & Packing)
- Accurately read picking slips to locate, pull, and stage products for customer orders.
- Pack, palletize, and shrink-wrap outbound shipments tightly to prevent damage during transit.
- Apply correct shipping labels and hazardous/food safety tags as directed.
4. Documentation & Communication
- Provide seamless translation and communication support between English- and Spanish-speaking team members on the floor.
- Confirm that final invoices match the signed BOLs before drivers leave the dock.
- Help maintain strict SQF food safety and sanitation standards across all storage areas.
- Language: Must be fully Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written) to assist with cross-team communication and documentation.
- Experience: Entry-level candidates are welcome! Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution environment is a plus, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are most important.
- Forklift Operation: Prior experience or a forklift certification is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to safety.
- Detail-Oriented: A sharp eye for numbers and names to catch errors on BOLs, invoices, and product labels.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, and possesses a "team-first" attitude.
- Safety First: Commitment to consistently wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strictly following food safety guidelines.
- Sensory Environment: This position is based on-site in our spice processing facility. You should be completely comfortable working around strong, rich spice aromas, dust, and active moving equipment.
- Physical Stamina: This role requires some standing, walking, and bending for extended periods, as well as the ability to regularly lift up to 51 pounds.
