This role sits at the intersection of financial analysis, regulatory compliance, and strategic advisory for rate-regulated utility clients. You will support organizations in navigating complex regulatory frameworks by delivering insights that shape rate cases, revenue requirements, and cost of service strategies. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will work closely with clients to interpret financial data, develop regulatory filings, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The position combines technical accounting expertise with client-facing consulting responsibilities in a highly analytical environment. You will also collaborate with internal teams to ensure high-quality delivery and contribute to the growth of advisory engagements. This is a role with strong autonomy and visibility, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex regulatory challenges and influencing financial outcomes in critical infrastructure sectors.
- Support the preparation and delivery of regulatory consulting services, including rate case development, testimony preparation, and regulatory filings for utility clients.
- Conduct cost of service studies, revenue requirement analyses, depreciation studies, and related financial assessments.
- Develop, review, and update tariffs to ensure alignment with applicable regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Analyze financial and operational data to assess regulatory compliance risks and identify strategic recommendations for clients.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards including FERC requirements, USoA guidelines, and other applicable utility accounting frameworks.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, managing relationships and providing guidance on complex regulatory matters.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support engagement delivery, project execution, and overall client satisfaction.
- Contribute to business growth by supporting engagement planning, execution quality, and advisory excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree or Juris Doctor from an accredited institution.
- 4+ years of experience in regulatory consulting, utility accounting, public utility regulation, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of FERC regulations, Uniform System of Accounts (USoA), and rate-regulated utility reporting requirements.
- Experience with rate design, cost of service studies, and regulatory filings.
- Strong analytical, research, and technical writing skills.
- Ability to manage projects independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and influence stakeholders.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with utility regulatory environments; Alaska regulatory experience is a plus but not required.
- Competitive salary range of $120,000 – $140,000 USD, plus discretionary bonus eligibility.
