This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Director, Member Retention (Managed Care & Operational Experience Preferred) based in the United States.
This senior leadership role is focused on shaping and executing enterprise-wide member retention strategies that directly impact health plan performance and member continuity. You will lead cross-functional initiatives designed to reduce avoidable eligibility loss while strengthening engagement across members, providers, and community partners. The role operates at both strategic and operational levels, translating regulatory requirements and business goals into actionable retention programs. You will influence executive decision-making through data-driven insights, performance forecasting, and trend analysis. This is a highly visible position that requires strong collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulators and advocacy organizations. - Develop and execute enterprise-wide member retention strategies aligned with organizational membership and eligibility goals, ensuring reduction of avoidable member loss.
- Lead cross-functional alignment across internal departments and external partners to operationalize retention initiatives and ensure accountability for performance outcomes.
- Own forecasting and monitoring of eligibility loss rates, ensuring alignment with membership projections, budgets, and strategic targets.
- Analyze retention performance metrics, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen long-term member engagement.
- Serve as a key advisor and representative of retention outcomes to senior leadership, regulators, advocates, and other external stakeholders.
- Ensure provider and community-based retention responsibilities are clearly defined, coordinated, and aligned with organizational objectives.
- Support ongoing optimization of processes and policies to enhance operational effectiveness and compliance with program requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of health plan or healthcare policy experience required; 10+ years strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of managed care operations, member retention, and healthcare policy environments.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid programs (including MassHealth) and/or Medicare Advantage regulations.
- Experience interpreting healthcare contracts and operationalizing policies into compliant, scalable processes.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate long-term goals into executable plans.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build strong internal and external partnerships.
- Highly analytical with experience in performance measurement, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong communication and executive presentation skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in operational excellence and cross-functional program delivery.
- Commitment to member-centered outcomes and improving healthcare access and continuity.
- Competitive salary range: $135,600 – $237,400 annually.
