Group Account Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Group Account Director based in the United States.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing a portfolio of client accounts while guiding a team of account leaders to ensure strategic alignment, operational excellence, and sustained business growth. You will act as both a client-facing executive and an internal team builder, ensuring delivery quality across multiple accounts while strengthening long-term partnerships. The role sits at the intersection of strategy, performance marketing, and operational leadership, requiring someone who can balance high-level portfolio oversight with hands-on problem solving when needed. You will play a key role in shaping client outcomes across digital channels, including paid media, SEO, and integrated growth programs. In addition to driving revenue and retention, you will help define how teams operate more efficiently and scale their impact. This is a high-influence position where leadership, commercial thinking, and marketing expertise come together to shape both client success and internal performance.

Accountabilities

This role is responsible for leading a multi-account portfolio, developing high-performing teams, and driving measurable business growth across client relationships.

  • Oversee a portfolio of client accounts, ensuring consistent performance, delivery quality, and strategic alignment
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Account Directors and senior account team members to build a high-performing organization
  • Drive revenue growth, client retention, and expansion opportunities across all accounts in the portfolio
  • Define and execute account strategies that strengthen client relationships and long-term value creation
  • Partner with internal leadership to align on business priorities, resource planning, and portfolio direction
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and increase client engagement across digital marketing offerings
  • Improve operational processes, workflows, and systems to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Ensure best practices across digital marketing execution, including paid media, SEO, email, and analytics-driven programs
  • Act as an escalation point for strategic client challenges and high-impact decisions
  • Champion a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement within the team
Requirements

This role requires an experienced agency leader with strong strategic, operational, and client management capabilities.

  • 10+ years of experience in agency, consulting, or client strategy leadership roles
  • Proven experience managing multi-account portfolios and leading senior account teams
  • Strong track record of driving revenue growth, retention, and client satisfaction
  • Deep understanding of digital marketing channels, including SEO, paid search, paid social, programmatic, email, and CRM/SMS
  • Hands-on experience with paid media platforms is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with ecommerce and/or B2B clients is a plus
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical mindset with familiarity in tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, SEMrush, Meta Ads, Klaviyo, ClickUp, and similar platforms
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
