Senior Full Stack Engineer (Checkout)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer (Checkout) based in United Kingdom.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled full-stack engineer to help shape and scale a critical product within a fast-growing technology environment. In this role, you will own key backend systems while contributing across the entire product stack, ensuring seamless user experiences and reliable end-to-end transaction flows. Working at the intersection of engineering, product, and platform teams, you will design integrations, build scalable services, and drive technical solutions that directly impact customers and partners. The position offers significant ownership, exposure to complex distributed systems, and the opportunity to work on innovative technologies within the Web3 and fintech ecosystem. You will join a collaborative, remote-first team that values autonomy, technical excellence, and continuous learning.

Accountabilities
  • Own and develop backend capabilities that power end-to-end checkout and transaction workflows, including integrations, quote management, session handling, status tracking, recovery processes, and transaction orchestration.
  • Design and implement scalable integration frameworks for external service providers, ensuring a consistent and reliable user experience across multiple systems.
  • Define, maintain, and evolve API contracts and backend services that connect frontend applications, partner systems, and core infrastructure.
  • Build resilient solutions for asynchronous, long-running, and failure-prone workflows, with a strong focus on observability, reliability, and recovery.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and platform teams to align technical architecture and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Contribute to frontend development where required, particularly when designing user interfaces that closely interact with backend systems and workflows.
  • Participate in technical discovery, architectural discussions, and continuous improvements to enhance scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Take ownership of features from concept to deployment, ensuring high-quality implementation and long-term support.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in backend software engineering with strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Proven full-stack development capabilities, including experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of API design, distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and service integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating third-party platforms and external APIs while handling complex edge cases, failures, and recovery scenarios.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native development, containerized environments, and modern deployment practices.
  • Working knowledge of Web3 technologies, blockchain transactions, decentralized applications, or related ecosystems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently navigate complex systems and collaborate across multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities may shift quickly.
  • Experience with payment systems, fintech platforms, digital wallets, exchanges, onboarding flows, compliance-related processes, or similar domains is considered a strong advantage.
  • Interest in emerging technologies, decentralized finance, and blockchain innovation is highly desirable.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary package ranging from €90,000 to €130,000 annually, based on experience and location.
  • Equity participation from day one.
  • Fully remote work environment across the EMEA region.
  • Flexible working hours to support work-life balance.
  • 30 days of paid time off.
  • Annual company retreats and international team offsites.
  • Choice of work equipment and computer setup.
  • One-time remote work budget to support home office or coworking arrangements.
  • Annual professional development budget for training, certifications, conferences, and learning opportunities.
  • Collaborative and inclusive culture that values ownership, innovation, and continuous growth.
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies within a rapidly evolving industry.
