Job Summary

The Senior HRIS Analyst serves as the HR department’s data, systems, and analytics expert—responsible for transforming complex workforce data into clear insights and compelling stories that guide strategic decision-making. This role partners with stakeholders to define business problems, identify the most impactful data, and deliver actionable recommendations through advanced analytics and visualization.

This individual leads the optimization of HR systems, leverages AI-enabled tools and automation to streamline HR functions, ensures data integrity, and drives a modern, insight-driven approach to HR technology across the organization.

Responsibilities

HRIS Strategy, AI Enablement & Optimization:

  • Serve as the primary HRIS subject matter expert, owning configuration, administration, and ongoing optimization of HR systems.
  • Translate business challenges into scalable system solutions, including automation, workflow optimization, and process improvements that streamline HR operations.

  • Design, configure, and optimize HR systems and modules (including LMS), ensuring alignment with business needs while improving efficiency and user experience.
  • Lead HRIS evaluation, implementation, and transition initiatives, including requirements gathering, system design, and future-state planning.
  • Leverage emerging technologies—including AI tools, predictive analytics, and automation—to enhance HR processes, reporting efficiency, and system functionality.
  • Ensure HR data integrity across systems through testing, validation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Manage day-to-day HRIS operations, including user access, system maintenance, reporting support, and issue resolution.
  • Establish and maintain HRIS governance standards, including security roles, reporting definitions, and data integrity practices, while supporting the HR technology roadmap and prioritization of enhancements.
  • Develop training, documentation, and change management materials to support system adoption and successful technology rollouts.

People Analytics:

  • Partner with HR and business leaders to define key business questions, identify necessary data, and deliver insights that inform workforce and organizational decisions.
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting solutions (Power BI or Tableau) that clearly communicate workforce trends including headcount, turnover, hiring, and other key metrics.
  • Translate complex data sets into clear narratives and visualizations that enable stakeholders to quickly understand insights and take action.
  • Partner with HR and Finance on workforce planning, forecasting, and trend analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Design and maintain structured HR data models to improve scalability, consistency, and reliability of reporting across systems.
  • Ensure reporting consistency and data integrity through audits, validation, and standardized metric definitions.
  • Continuously evolve reporting and analytics capabilities to move from descriptive reporting to predictive and prescriptive insights.
Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

Experience and/or Training

  • 5+ years of experience in HRIS, HR Operations, or HR Technology roles in a fast-paced or evolving environment.
  • Required experience with Paylocity HRIS, including system configuration, reporting, and optimization.
  • Strong experience with HR data and reporting tools, including building dashboards in Power BI or Tableau, advanced Excel analysis, and translating HR data into actionable insights.

Competencies

  • Proven experience with Paylocity HRIS, including system administration, configuration, and optimization.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of HR data governance, reporting practices, and key HR metrics; knowledge of HR laws and regulations related to payroll, compensation, and benefits.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, frame business problems, and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to tell compelling stories with data and present insights in a clear, concise, and visually impactful way.
  • Experience leveraging automation and AI-enabled tools to improve processes and reporting efficiency
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of integrity and discretion with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills, able to collaborate and influence across all levels of the organization.
  • Self-directed and detail-oriented, with a strong commitment to accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement.

Compensation and Benefits for Senior HRIS Analyst:

Pay Range: $84,645 - $111,400

Compensation is determined by several factors that vary depending on the position, including the individual’s experience, skills, and the knowledge they bring to the specific role.
