Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer III, Speech Systems based in the United States.
This role sits at the intersection of advanced software engineering and real-time speech technology, building the systems that power speech recognition, speech synthesis, and natural language processing at scale. You will work on complex, cloud-native, multithreaded systems that process and route audio in real time with high reliability and performance. The environment is highly technical and collaborative, requiring strong ownership and the ability to independently drive features from design through production. You will contribute directly to core platform evolution, including architecture decisions and performance optimization of production-grade speech pipelines. The role also involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as QA, support, and product stakeholders to ensure stability and continuous improvement. This is a high-impact engineering position where your work directly influences the quality and responsiveness of intelligent voice systems used in real-world applications.
This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable speech systems and real-time audio processing infrastructure while ensuring reliability, performance, and security across production environments.
- Lead development of speech systems supporting ASR, TTS, NLP, and biometrics capabilities
- Design and implement real-time audio pipelines, including integration with speech recognition and synthesis engines
- Develop, optimize, and maintain multithreaded and distributed C++ and Golang services in production environments
- Build and maintain secure Linux- and Docker-based systems, ensuring adherence to secure software development practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across networking layers, including RTP/SIP-based audio transport systems
- Own full software lifecycle delivery including requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and deployment
- Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of cloud-native speech processing systems
- Collaborate with QA, support, and product teams to identify issues, define features, and deliver fixes
- Contribute to system architecture decisions and long-term technical roadmap planning
- Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership within a small, high-performing team
This role requires a senior-level engineer with deep expertise in systems programming and production-grade speech or real-time audio systems.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years working on speech or real-time audio systems in production
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Golang in large-scale production environments
- Hands-on experience with ASR and/or TTS pipelines deployed in real-world systems
- Strong background in multithreaded, high-performance, and distributed system design
- Experience working with Linux-based systems, Docker, and secure software development practices
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS
- Proven ability to design system architecture and translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Experience troubleshooting complex, cross-system issues in production environments
- Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing strategies
- Comfort working across multiple programming languages and adapting to evolving technical stacks
- Nice to have: Kubernetes experience, RTP/SIP/VoIP networking protocols, DSP fundamentals, Python, and tools such as RabbitMQ, Redis, Postgres, Jira, or Confluence
- Competitive base salary ranging from $115,000 to $158,000, depending on experience and location
- Profit interest units and performance-based incentive compensation
- Employer-paid health insurance for employees and eligible dependents
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match
- Unlimited vacation policy
- Short-term disability and group life AD&D insurance
- Remote-friendly work environment
- Collaborative, mission-driven engineering culture
- Opportunities to work on cutting-edge AI and speech technology systems
- Inclusive workplace with strong emphasis on learning, ownership, and technical excellence
