POSITION SUMMARY: The Back Waiter at one of Oxford’s luxury or boutique-style hotels is responsible for providing support and relief for restaurants bar and banquet staff. This position is responsible for various duties in both front and back of house operations in the restaurant, bar and banquets while adhering to sanitation and cleanliness standards. The Back Waiter plays a key role in striving to meet and exceed Four-Star service standards delivering high-quality service and amenities with strong attention to detail, ensuring excellence in every guest interaction, and consistently exceeding expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times.
Food and Beverage Service (70%):
- Greet all guests upon arrival with a polished and professional demeanor
- Seat guests and provide menus to guests in a friendly, professional and timely manner
- Maintain knowledge of menu of restaurant and bar specials, offering expert-level recommendations to enhance guest experience and anticipate guest needs, delivering personalized, luxury-level service
- Ensure tables are set and meet restaurant and bar cleanliness standards, retrieve and deliver food and beverages in a timely manner, bus and clean tables after each guest use
- Assist In Room Dining by taking guest orders following phone etiquette guidelines, delivering food to guest rooms, and following the restaurants pick up procedures
- Support banquet staff if needed by ensuring banquet space is set-up and service delivery is carried out according to guest expectations and BEO
- Multi-task with an impeccable eye for detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency while adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol control policies
Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations. Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to the supervisor or General Manager
Guest Relations (20%):
- Always provide a high level of customer service, taking time with our guests to ensure every aspect of their stay is up to expectations
- Handle guest complaints, requests, and concerns with professionalism and discretion, using the Oxford Collection guest recovery, and service gestures consistent with Forbes service standards
- Communicate clearly and effectively with guests and kitchen staff. Effectively listen, understand, clarify, and resolve concerns raised by coworkers and guests
- Maintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity when working with both internal and external guests
Other (10%):
- Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of services
- Complete a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership team
- Obtain sales leads for the sales department
- Adhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shifts
- Other Hotel related duties as assigned

PREFFERED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1+ years Previous food & beverage experience preferred
- Previous hospitality experience preferred
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Food handler’s license and liquor server permits as required by state law (or ability to obtain)
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends and holidays
- Reliable and consistent attendance
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds occasionally and often exert up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull, carry, lift or otherwise move objects
- Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
- Must be able to perform all duties and be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat) depending on location this position could be performed both indoor and/or outdoor.
- Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions
