Director of Revenue Accounting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Revenue Accounting based in Canada.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for owning end-to-end revenue recognition and partner economics across a complex, fast-scaling business environment. The position sits at the intersection of technical accounting, data systems, and commercial operations, with a mandate to transform manual accounting workflows into scalable, automated processes. You will play a key role in designing and implementing an automated revenue and invoicing infrastructure within NetSuite while ensuring compliance with advanced accounting standards such as ASC 606 ASC 606. You will also serve as the main finance point of contact for external partners, helping resolve disputes and interpret complex contractual arrangements. This is a highly autonomous role with broad ownership, direct exposure to senior leadership, and significant influence over financial integrity and operational efficiency. The environment is dynamic, data-driven, and suited for someone who thrives in high-growth, tech-enabled organizations.

Accountabilities:
  • Own and design the end-to-end revenue recognition, invoicing, and partner economics framework, transforming manual processes into scalable automated workflows within NetSuite NetSuite.
  • Manage full-cycle revenue operations across partner arrangements, including revenue share, commissions, clawbacks, and multi-element contracts from setup through collections.
  • Interpret complex commercial agreements and translate them into accurate accounting treatment, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 standards.
  • Build and maintain the AR subledger, ensuring accurate reconciliation with the general ledger and leading month-end close activities for partner revenue streams.
  • Leverage advanced SQL to extract, validate, and reconcile large datasets across multiple systems and ensure data integrity across financial processes.
  • Partner closely with data engineering and warehouse teams to identify data gaps, improve pipelines, and ensure accurate financial reporting inputs.
  • Oversee collections processes including aging analysis, escalation management, dispute resolution, and partner communications.
  • Act as the primary finance liaison for external partners, supporting contract interpretation and resolving billing or payment issues.
  • Support internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance initiatives related to revenue accounting and partner transactions.
Requirements:
  • CPA designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification with 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, revenue recognition, or partner billing.
  • Strong expertise in revenue accounting under ASC 606 and experience preparing technical accounting documentation and memos.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency with proven ability to independently query, extract, and reconcile large datasets.
  • Strong understanding of complex contract structures and ability to translate legal/commercial terms into accounting treatment.
  • Hands-on experience with revenue systems, billing platforms, and ERP tools such as NetSuite.
  • Proven experience managing accounts receivable, collections processes, and external partner relationships.
  • Strong analytical mindset with exceptional data reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in high-growth technology or marketplace environments is strongly preferred.
  • Prior exposure to cross-functional collaboration with data engineering or analytics teams is an asset.
Benefits:
  • Competitive total compensation package ranging from CAD 180,000 to CAD 240,000, including base salary, equity, and potential incentives.
  • Equity participation through stock options or RSUs, aligning long-term success with company growth.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage fully or highly subsidized.
  • Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Health spending account supporting eligible medical and dental expenses.
  • Access to telemedicine services for employees and dependents.
  • Retirement savings plan with automatic contributions.
  • Generous parental leave policy exceeding industry standards.
  • Unlimited paid time off to support flexibility and work-life balance.
  • Remote-first work environment with additional home office and coworking stipends.
  • Travel and lifestyle perks, including travel credits and wellness-related benefits.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with high autonomy and impact-driven teams.
