Position Summary

The Quality Engineer is responsible for validating systems, processes, and procedures to ensure product and process conformance throughout the organization. This role manages key quality documentation (PPAP, SPAP, APQP, 8D), supports ISO 9001:2015 compliance, leads corrective actions, and partners with cross‑functional teams to drive improvements.

This position plays a critical role in supporting weld, paint, assembly, and fabrication operations by identifying issues, solving problems, and preventing recurrence.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Blueprint & GD&T Interpretation — Read, understand, and apply engineering drawings, job order specifications, and weld symbols
• Quality Documentation — Prepare, maintain, and submit PPAP, SPAP, APQP, and 8D documentation
• Data Analysis — Record, analyze, and interpret inspection data; support statistical analysis
• Root Cause Analysis — Use 8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa, and other structured problem‑solving tools to identify and eliminate root causes
• Corrective Actions — Lead corrective action activities and verify effectiveness
• Inspection Oversight — Support layout, in‑process, and final inspections; validate conformance to specifications
• Process Troubleshooting — Investigate issues related to parts, assemblies, weldments, and coatings; recommend improvements
• Continuous Improvement — Assist in verifying implemented quality improvements and identifying new opportunities
• Training & Support — Provide technical assistance and training in quality techniques, tools, and standards
• ISO Compliance — Understand and work within ISO 9001:2015 requirements, procedures, and audit processes
• Quality Planning — Apply knowledge of Control Plans, PFMEA, and Flow Diagrams as they relate to PPAP
• Documentation — Complete and maintain all required paperwork and reports
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment and follow all Super Steel and OSHA safety rules
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
• High school diploma or GED required
• 5+ years of experience in quality, engineering, welding, or related fields within heavy metal fabrication
• Ability to read and use calipers, scales, rulers, tape measures, and similar measuring tools
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and customer specifications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present findings confidently
• Preferred Certifications:
• • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
  • AWS D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, D1.6
  • NDT experience (LT, PT, MT, UT)
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize effectively
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Ability to apply general mathematical concepts to measurements, inspection, and problem‑solving
