About This Position
Description:
The Floor Nurse / Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing direct patient care, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a skilled nursing facility. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, adhering to all facility policies and procedures and regulatory standards.
Schedule: Full-Time, NOC 6 pm-6:30 am, 12 hour, some weekends and some holidays
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' physical, mental, and emotional status upon admission, regularly throughout their stay, and as changes in condition occur.
- Care Planning: Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient assessments, physician orders, and facility policies.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications accurately and safely, documenting all dosages and effects. Monitor for adverse reactions and report as necessary.
- Wound Care: Provide skilled wound care, including dressing changes, wound assessment, and documentation of progress.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records (EHRs), including assessments, vital signs, medication administration, treatments, and patient responses.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with physicians, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to CNAs and other support staff, delegating tasks appropriately and ensuring quality care delivery.
- Emergency Response: Respond to medical emergencies, initiating appropriate interventions and notifying the physician and family as needed.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment plans, medication regimens, and discharge instructions.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict infection control protocols and universal precautions to prevent the spread of infections.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures.
Licensure/Certification
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Idaho.
- Current and active CPR Card
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in a skilled nursing facility, long-term care, or acute care setting.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Knowledge of common diagnoses and treatments in a skilled nursing facility setting.
- Ability to maintain composure and effectiveness in stressful situations.
