SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to Chief Behavioral Officer in interim, the Manager, Forensic Services will provide oversight and direction for forensic program administration, development, and advancement in accordance with program contracts and grants covering Cuyahoga, Lake, and Ashtabula counties. The Manager, Forensic Services will represent Signature Health in all clinical services touching the criminal justice system, advocating for patients and the organization. The Manager, Forensic Services, will develop relevant policies and procedures in collaboration with the criminal justice system, Signature Health managers, and community partners.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED:
- Signature Health’s expert in forensically oriented behavioral health services, supporting staff providing services and representing the agency to external stakeholders.
- Serve as the point of contact for criminal justice system staff and related community partners, facilitating Signature Health’s ability to positively impact this patient population.
- Regularly attend court hearings and proceedings as determined by associated dockets, across multiple counties is required.
- Promote a recovery-oriented, patient-centered approach to treatment in the criminal environment, ensuring a distinction between Signature Health’s goals as a treatment provider, and the criminal justice system’s goals in protecting public interests.
- Coordinate the development and execution of court-related program contracts, including staff education on services, documentation, and program requirements.
- Prepare any reports necessary for program contracts, grants, or other QI related activities.
- Support advancement of Signature Health’s impact on patients involved with the criminal justice system through the development of new opportunities and contracts.
- Serve as a liaison to Signature Health’s forensic urine drug testing program in both outpatient and residential settings, when applicable.
- Directly supervise staff exclusively dedicated to Signature Health’s forensic behavioral health programming, across all SH Outpatient locations.
- Receive and facilitate information between the criminal justice system related to referrals, linkage to programs, and services.
- Promote the maintenance of client charting in accordance with ODBH, Medicaid, JCAHO, ODADAS, CARF and professional standards.
- Communicate with all Signature Health staff regarding relevant challenges and needs for those involved with the criminal justice system.
- Participate and engage in MHDD and other stakeholder meetings in order to review and provide updates about Signature Health clients.
- Provide brief assessments and intake-related functions for linkage of new referrals.
- Work with intake/assessment team to facilitate referrals from criminal justice community partners.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s Degree required.
- Valid unencumbered LISW-S, or LPCC-S License in the State of Ohio required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required.
- Experience working with and EHR system required, EPIC experience preferred.
- Previous experience with the development and implementation of healthcare organizational policies and procedures.
- Experience collaborating with other team members to optimize outcomes clients.
- Familiarity of state and federal healthcare regulations including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid required.
- Awareness of community and state support resources for population served.
- Experience educating staff on program standards preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.
- While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.
- Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
- Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
- Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
- Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
- Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
