Position OverviewReporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Communications, the Director of Recruitment provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of Earlham’s recruitment efforts. This role is responsible for driving enrollment growth by leading a team of admissions professionals, implementing data-informed recruitment strategies, and fostering a high-performance, goals-oriented culture. The Director is accountable for achieving yearly application and enrollment goals and ensuring a strong, consistent prospective student experience from inquiry through matriculation. The Director should have a positive and growth mindset to help the team stay motivated and focused.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities- Collaborate with leadership to develop a comprehensive recruitment strategy to meet or exceed enrollment targets for undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the recruitment team with a personalized student-centered approach, including training, coaching, and performance management.
- Establish clear recruitment goals and performance metrics, monitor progress, and hold team members accountable for results.
- Oversee all recruitment travel for the Admissions team, in consultation with the AVP.
- Foster a results-driven, goals-oriented culture focused on relationship building, responsiveness, and conversion of prospective students into matriculated students.
- Work with the leadership to analyze recruitment data and market trends to inform decision-making and optimize territory management and outreach efforts.
- Manage recruitment funnel activity, ensuring timely follow-up and effective counselor communication at all stages of the admissions cycle.
- Represent Earlham College with designated territory with responsibility to recruit students to the college through developing and maintaining relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other key partners within the territory.
- Prepare regular reports on recruitment performance, forecasts, and market insights for senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations in all recruitment practices.
- Represent the college in a professional manner as a member of internal and external committees and professional organizations at local, regional, and national events, programs, and panels.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, required; master’s degree preferred.
- Five to seven years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related field, with demonstrated success in meeting recruitment or sales goals.
- Proven experience supervising and developing staff in a performance-driven environment.
- Strong understanding of enrollment funnel, Slate, and data analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- An appreciation for collaboration, consensus building, and the liberal arts, which are highly valued on Earlham’s campus.
- Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed during peak recruitment periods.
