Join the 7 East Medical-Surgical team and specialize in the intricate landscapes of mental illness within the context of inpatient hospital nursing. The brain is an organ and, just like the heart or the lungs, may become diseased with neurochemical and traumatic imbalances that lead to both medical and mental health crises. Caring for this patient population allows nursing staff to become agents of empowerment and healing amidst chaos. Mental health nursing in the acute medical setting is a conglomeration of clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassion that cohesively promotes a profound difference in every patient’s recovery experience. • $25,000 Sign-On Bonus

Job Summary

• The Medical-Surgical nurse is responsible for managing the care of the adult or geriatric patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures. The nurse must be able to assess patient condition, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records and provide patients and families with support and education. The Medical-Surgical nurse maintains a wide array of medical care knowledge in order to care for a diverse group of patients.

Job Requirements

• Education

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

• Experience

  • Preferred: Previous nursing experience

• Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate effective leadership abilities

  • Exhibits valuable time management skills

  • Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.

  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.

• Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri

  • Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days
