About This Position

Description:

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth through proactive sales efforts across all market segments. This role is responsible for generating new business, maintaining strong client relationships, and maximizing hotel occupancy and overall revenue through strategic selling initiatives.

The Sales Manager will actively prospect, solicit, negotiate, and close group and transient business while delivering exceptional customer service aligned with brand and ownership expectations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively prospect and secure new business through cold calls, networking, community involvement, and site visits
  • Develop and maintain relationships with corporate, leisure, group, and local accounts
  • Respond to RFPs and sales inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Conduct hotel tours and client presentations
  • Negotiate contracts to maximize revenue and profitability
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly room revenue and production goals
  • Maintain accurate account information and sales activity in CRM systems
  • Participate in weekly revenue and strategy meetings
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends
  • Represent the hotel at community events, trade shows, and networking functions
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure the successful execution of group bookings
  • Provide detailed turnover information for group arrivals
Requirements: Education & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of hotel sales experience preferred
  • Marriott brand experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong prospecting and closing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to negotiate contracts and pricing effectively
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet revenue targets
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Comfortable with cold calling and outside sales activity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel sales systems (CI/TY, FOSSE, MARSHA, or similar platforms)
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings or weekends for client events
  • Valid driver’s license for outside sales calls
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds (for trade shows and sales materials)
