Student Employee - Grounds & General Maintenance at Barton Community College – Department of Labor and Employment

Position Description: To assist the Facility Management staff with the general upkeep of the college facilities. Position Responsibilities: 40.00% - Perform the routine general maintenance pertaining to electrical, carpentry, and plumbing minor repair necessary to keep the Campus attractive and functioning. 40.00% - Perform grounds duties to include weeding, watering, mowing, trash pick up, planting, digging, and painting. 15.00% - Help with set up for seminars, activities, and other functions as necessary for the college. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: Must be able to work flexible hours. Must follow safety requirements pertaining to the duties assigned. To report any safety concerns to the supervisor. To report any damage to equipment or facility. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education - Enrolled in applicable Barton Community College credit hours during fall and spring semesters. Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. Wages/Other: This position pays $9/ hour.
