Job Description

Senior Architedctrual Design Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Architectural Design Lead based in the United States.

This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for driving the design and delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center facilities. You will act as the principal authority across Civil, Structural, Landscape, and Architecture (CSLA) disciplines, guiding complex projects from early concept development through construction and final turnover. The role requires deep expertise in high-performance infrastructure environments where uptime, resilience, and scalability are critical. You will collaborate closely with engineering, construction, operations, and external partners to ensure design integrity and execution excellence. A key part of your impact will be setting technical standards, resolving complex design challenges, and ensuring alignment across all stakeholders. You will also lead innovation efforts, integrating emerging design approaches that improve sustainability and operational efficiency. This position is ideal for a highly experienced architectural leader who thrives in technically demanding, large-scale environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for CSLA disciplines across hyperscale and mission-critical data center projects from concept through commissioning and final turnover.
  • Lead design strategy, establish standards, and ensure all architectural deliverables meet the highest levels of technical quality, safety, and performance.
  • Oversee coordination between internal teams (R&D, construction, operations) and external stakeholders (engineers of record, contractors, regulators) to ensure successful project execution.
  • Review and validate all design documentation, including drawings, specifications, submittals, invoices, and change proposals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Drive cross-disciplinary alignment to ensure integrated architectural and building system design across all project phases.
  • Lead RFP development, vendor evaluation, contract oversight, and ensure adherence to project scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
  • Manage risk identification and mitigation strategies, proactively adjusting design and delivery approaches to maintain project momentum.
  • Lead site visits, mock-ups, testing, and commissioning activities to ensure systems meet design intent and performance standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for design-related decisions, ensuring timely resolution of technical and coordination issues.
  • Provide expert guidance on building systems, codes, regulatory compliance, and mission-critical infrastructure requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality and commissioning teams to ensure system integration, performance validation, and issue resolution.
  • Support facilities and operations teams through technical knowledge transfer and smooth project handover processes.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Architect with 10+ years of experience in the design and delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center facilities.
  • Proven leadership of CSLA disciplines across hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of construction codes, permitting processes, safety regulations, and large-scale infrastructure standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit, BIM workflows, Bluebeam, Autodesk tools, and Google Workspace.
  • Deep understanding of structural systems (steel, concrete, mass timber) and their application in high-performance environments.
  • Experience with geotechnical considerations, landscape integration, and sustainable design strategies for mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of redundancy, fault-tolerant design, and high-availability infrastructure requirements.
  • Familiarity with physical security systems, access control, and specialized data center building systems.
  • Strong understanding of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) requirements in design and construction contexts.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to executives, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional design coordination efforts and drive decision-making.
  • Passion for improving design processes and advancing innovation in mission-critical infrastructure delivery.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation package aligned with senior technical leadership responsibilities.
  • Opportunity to lead high-impact, mission-critical data center projects at scale.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge infrastructure design and advanced engineering environments.
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan and financial wellness benefits.
  • Paid time off and flexible work policies supporting work-life balance.
  • Career growth opportunities in a rapidly evolving, high-demand industry.
  • Collaborative environment working alongside top-tier engineering and construction professionals.
