North Warning System | Nasittuq Corporation

Type: Unionized, Rotational Position (6 weeks on, 6 weeks off)

Nasittuq Corporation provides Operations & Maintenance for the North Warning System (NWS), a joint Canada-US radar network with 47 sites across Northern Canada. Join us in delivering critical services to remote Arctic locations.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on radar, satellite communication, and electronics test equipment at NWS Long Range and Short Range Radar sites.
• Provide diagnostic, problem-solving, and repair services for radar and communication systems.
• Install and replace satellite communication components, including RF/IF equipment, Advantech Transceivers, LNAs, and SSPAs.
• Conduct verification procedures to ensure installations meet Implementation Instructions.
• Interface with Nasittuq’s LSS staff and the North Warning System Command Centre (NWSCC) to obtain necessary authorizations.
• Maintain site cleanliness, package waste for disposal, and return removed equipment to the Logistics Depot.

Who You Are:

• Education: Two-year electronic technician program from a recognized institution or Canadian military equivalent.
• Experience: Two years of related experience in maintaining electronic systems.
• Knowledge of data communications systems, data and video monitoring, and satellite communications systems.
• Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, RF power meters, and BER test units.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, manual dexterity, and experience using MS Word and Excel.
• Comfortable working in remote Arctic locations under physically demanding conditions.

Bonus:

• Certified Engineering Technologist or Technician and possession of Acquisition License are considered assets.
