This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Construction Engineer - Bridges based in Canada.

This role involves leading the engineering and execution support for some of the most complex bridge construction projects across North America. You will be responsible for developing construction means and methods that ensure safe, efficient, and precise bridge erection in challenging environments. The position requires deep technical expertise in heavy civil and bridge construction, particularly in lifting operations, temporary works, and structural assembly strategies. You will collaborate closely with field teams, designers, and project stakeholders to translate engineering plans into executable construction solutions. The role combines office-based engineering design with active field engagement on construction sites. This is a high-impact position for an experienced bridge engineer who thrives in technically demanding and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead the design and development of bridge construction means and methods, including erection sequencing and temporary works solutions.
  • Engineer and review lifting plans involving cranes, rigging systems, jacking operations, and structural steel installation.
  • Provide technical oversight for complex bridge erection activities and ensure alignment with safety and engineering standards.
  • Develop and optimize purpose-built erection equipment and construction support systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and contractors to ensure constructability and execution feasibility of designs.
  • Conduct site visits and provide on-the-ground engineering support during critical construction phases.
  • Review and resolve technical construction challenges related to structural steel, industrial components, and temporary structures.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering codes, safety regulations, and project specifications throughout construction activities.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in construction engineering focused on heavy bridge and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent), with professional chartership preferred (ICE, IStructE, or similar).
  • Eligibility to obtain Professional Engineer licensure in British Columbia, Canada.
  • Strong expertise in bridge construction methods, steel erection, and industrial structural systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of crane operations, rigging, lifting design, and jacking methodologies.
  • Proven field experience working on active construction sites, ideally with structural steel or ironworker environments.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills with the ability to guide technical teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordination with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong problem-solving ability in complex, high-pressure construction environments.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary package ranging from $120,000 to $150,000 per year, based on experience and location.
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • RRSP contribution plan to support long-term financial planning.
  • Paid vacation of 2 to 4 weeks, with additional credit for prior industry experience.
  • Flexible hybrid work model combining office, site, and remote work arrangements.
  • Paid sick leave and additional employee support benefits.
  • Opportunity to work on landmark bridge infrastructure projects across North America.
  • Strong professional development and long-term career growth opportunities.
