Job Description
PURVIS Systems is seeking a motivated Electronics Technician to support assembly, testing, configuration, and repair of our Fire Station Alerting Systems. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on technical work, has strong attention to detail, and is eager to learn and grow within a manufacturing and technology environment. This position requires strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills, a commitment to quality and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
The Electronics Technician assembles finished products using subassemblies, parts and fasteners. Responsibilities include fabricating and assembling cable harnesses, wiring electrical chassis and enclosures, performing subsystem checkouts and configuration, and assisting with product testing and quality assurance activities. The role also includes basic system setup and configuration, including working with IP-based devices and network settings. The Electronic Technician will assist the production team with packing and preparing outgoing hardware systems for shipment.
Experience with component-level troubleshooting and repair, including soldering on surface-mounted circuit boards is consider a plus.
The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include:- Assemble, configure, test, troubleshoot, and repair Fire Station Alerting System equipment and related products.
- Perform production assembly and testing of new systems and troubleshoot manufacturing test failures.
- Troubleshoot and repair field-returned equipment and document findings and corrective actions.
- Support engineering with testing and validation of new products and product enhancements.
- Assist in the development and improvement of manufacturing test procedures and test equipment.
- Perform assembly and testing in accordance with company quality standards and manufacturing procedures.
- Analyze test results to identify equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Gather and integrate information from technical manuals, schematics, test equipment, and team members to troubleshoot issues.
- Safely and effectively operate measuring and testing equipment, including voltmeters, electronic scales, and other diagnostic tools.
- Use hand tools and soldering equipment to assemble, modify, and repair products.
- Assist with inventory, packaging, and shipping activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate production, testing, and repair records.
- Travel occasionally to customer sites to assist with system installation, testing, and cutover activities. Travel is typically 5–10% and consists of trips lasting two to five days.
- High school diploma required.
- Technical school certificate, associate degree in Electronics Technology, or equivalent technical training preferred.
- Two to three years of experience in electronics assembly, testing, troubleshooting, repair, or related technical work.
- Recent technical school graduates with relevant hands-on experience are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems, networking concepts, and IP addressing.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and customers.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and expand technical skills in areas such as networking, system testing, and quality assurance.
- Ability to lift, pull, or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to travel as required.
