Job Summary
Perform general, non-specialized tasks in the maintenance of production equipment and building infrastructure or grounds to ensure safety of all employees and minimized unplanned production downtime. Duties include but are not limited to: electrical maintenance, pipefitting and plumbing tasks, woodwork and fixtures, light bulbs, covers, and filter replacement, scrap, putty and paint walls, simple machine and equipment troubleshooting. Utilizes a wide variety of hand and portable power tools.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
Complete maintenance work orders as assigned:
- Installs, repairs and maintains high voltage systems: motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring and other electrical system equipment
- Perform a variety of maintenance repair (building infrastructure, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic) and preventative repair on manual and CNC equipment with limited direction and guidance
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical/electrical/electronic, pneumatic and plumbing breakdowns in a timely manner
- Follow designated work instructions as outlined for specific functions. These include, but are not limited to: PM work orders, continuous improvement tasks, new installation line-ups, and repair/refurbish assignments
- Perform facility systems inspections as assigned
- Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to detect problem areas and assist with resolution
- Utilize industry standards while performing machine installation, repairs and re-assembly
- Update spare parts and suitable replacements, as needed
- Complete demand maintenance work order paperwork
- Participate in cross training to become knowledgeable of equipment/process within the department
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Maintain company issued tools
- Follow standard practices and all state and government regulations and laws relating work safety

- Determine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for use
- Make suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiency
- Actively engaged with training and mentoring other team members
- Follow safety rules and quality standards
- Work with contracted repair personnel as needed

Qualifications and Competencies:
- Perform work independently
- Communicate with supervisor on work order priority, issues and progress
- Open to change due to emergency orders or fabrication of parts
- Very good math skills
- Ability to understand schematics
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical/electronic, pneumatic, and plumbing breakdowns
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
Education and Experience:
- TSU or Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training. Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is preferred.
- English desirable.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; must be able to move about position 75% of the time. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus and see details at close range (within a few feet). Employee must be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions 75%.
During the course of regularly assigned duties, the employee may be required to properly utilize personal protective equipment including but not limited to: safety shoes, safety glasses, goggles, hard hats, air purifying respirator, or supplied air respiratory protection.
Work Environment
The work environment is typical of most shop environments; not climate controlled and subject to outdoor weather conditions. Team members are exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.
- Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other types of PPE.
- May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
