Electrical Maintenance Technician – Manufacturing Operations

Location: Petersburg, VA
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Starting Pay: $36.73/hour and up

Compensation Information

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Electrical Maintenance Technicians to support equipment reliability and plant operations within a large-scale manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide variety of electrical, electronic, and automated systems that support production processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial electrical maintenance, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and supporting continuous operation of manufacturing assets.

Primary ResponsibilitiesElectrical Maintenance & Repair
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical systems and production equipment
  • Diagnose electrical and electronic failures across manufacturing operations
  • Support plant equipment utilizing AC and DC motors, variable-speed drives, PLC-controlled systems, and power-distribution components
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems operating at voltages up to 480V
Equipment Reliability & Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities on production machinery and mobile equipment
  • Support maintenance of pumps, overhead cranes, motors, and hydraulic or pneumatic systems
  • Identify potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions before operational disruptions occur
Diagnostics & Technical Support
  • Utilize electrical testing instruments including voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic equipment
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering drawings
  • Assist with troubleshooting automated equipment, control panels, and distribution systems
  • Balance electrical loads and install or modify complex electrical circuits when required
  • Provide technical assistance to maintenance personnel and production teams
Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and materials usage
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable electrical safety standards
  • Support compliance with maintenance, reliability, and operational requirements
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Successful completion of an electrical aptitude or entrance assessment
  • Three to five years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics, measurements, and technical documentation
  • Understanding of AC/DC motor operation and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience working with PLCs, drives, electrical controls, and industrial power systems
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E requirements and industrial electrical safety practices
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Proficiency using electrical hand tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment
